Pornassio is surrounded by a rich agro-food heritage: the famous Taggiasca olives, Vessalico garlic, the fragrant lavender of Colle di Nava, and the traditional 'cucina bianca' of the Ligurian hinterland are just a few examples.
However, the undisputed star of the region is the Ormeasco, one of the smallest DOC wines in Italy. This indigenous grape variety, a relative of Dolcetto, has been cultivated for centuries on mountain terraces. Resistant to cold and high altitudes, Ormeasco produces a wine with a bold character: ruby red, full-bodied and intense, with hints of cherry, spices, and forest fruits. In addition to the classic version, Ormeasco Superiore is also produced: richer and more alcoholic (over 12.5°), and Sciac-Trà: a fresh and fragrant rosé, pleasant and with a characteristic fruity scent.
For lovers of trekking, canyoning, good food or simply in search of tranquillity, Pornassio will surprise. The panoramic paths of the Arroscia Valley offer breathtaking views, ideal for hiking or e-biking, passing through medieval villages, torrents, chestnut woods and lavender fields. From the heart of the location it is easy to reach the natural lakes of the Arroscia torrent, perfect for a refreshing swim surrounded by greenery.
In a few minutes by car you can reach: the thermal baths of Pigna and the Natural Park of the Ligurian Alps, the historical village of Triora, known for its legends about witches, Pieve di Teco where an important Antiques Market is held every last Sunday of the month, attracting tourists from all over,
and especially the beautiful city of Sanremo, renowned for its enchanting beaches, vibrant cultural and musical events, and its famous historic center full of charm and history.
